Ici dessus!

Project exhibited at Shifting Ground - a Garden Party @ursquare.brussels during @brussels_design_week
17/09-26/09

Ici dessus! is an interpretation of this years theme of the shifting ground exhibition a Garden Party

The Project started by analysing what a garden party entitles and how we could reinterpret it to create a proposition that includes a larger sense of community to a happening that is often reserved to a small group of the population, especially in urban settings where privately owned outside spaces are a luxury and clearly dependant on social class and wealth.

The proposition takes the shape of a totem like object, showing one of many ways that public space can be used and occupied with simple and lightweight structures giving freedom to the different communities to use a structure and a system to shape events and activities around their needs through participatory building.

The straw bales become a structural building brick that can be a support to an idea or become its own playground. The building of the structure being part of the Garden Party just as much as the event or happening itself.

After the exhibiton the structure will be offered to different communities to play with so the projects can become what it wants to be, and take shape through what the people want it to become.
